From Linus:
Bottled DEC5.11, number 62 in the series
For this one we used all American west-coast style varieties - Cascade, Columbus, Centennial, Chinook, Northern Brewer, and Nugget. The result - a burst of grapefruit, long chewy bitterness, and a woody, slightly minty finish.
We are doing multiple barches of this recipe to try to get it out to all our markets. And that's a good thing, because this is now one of my favorites so far! I'll update this post with the other bottled dates when they happe
Update 12/26/11: We had a great Christmas Week and are gearing up for the New Year Run! Short of a car hitting Traditions Fine Wine and Spirits Friday night, it came off without a glitch!
We are out of the Ginger Jaque Growlers, but there may be some left in the city. We took half the delivered stock, and the other half was distributed to other retailers but really don't know where......
A new cool bottle to our market from Corona is the Corona Familiar 32oz size bomber shown on the Home Page. This is pretty cool too and I do enjoy a Corona now and then!
Sam Adams Winter Classic Variety 12 Packs are in with 4 of the 6 selections being brew we do not carry regularly. Again, see Home Page picture and listing of the beer contained within.
Update 12/16/11:
Did I already tell you we have been on Hop Project #60?!
Growler fills stopped for Lazy Magnolia Ginger Jaque as their own growler container made it to the market. At first, the distributer wasn't sure if they would get them, so we started tapping the kegs that were avialable. Then we were notfified last Friday that they received a very limited supply of 30 cases (180 bottels) for the entire city. We bought 15 cases (or half) of it right away on Monday!
The price point is much better at $12.99. Also, we will give $3 off to anybody who brings in proof (or purchases) a Yazoo Growler. Don't need to fill it, just have proof you have bought one and we five you $3 off!
New San Lotano Oval cigars as well as the Connecticut Blend is now in store. These are some Great Cigars! Also check out our Oliva Sampler with Cutter for great gift idea!
Update 12/7/11: "Growler Fills" have started at Hops and Habanas!! What this means is we are selling 64oz glassware that is called a "growler." These are from Yazoo Brewing Company and picture on the left of this page. We are dispensing beer in these containers that are unique to our market. Last week we had one 1/6 keg of Lazy Magnolia "Southern Gentleman" and sold that in about a day which came to about 9 growlers being sold.
Today, we have another new Lazy Magnolia special brew to dispense which is the Ginger Jaque Rye Ale. Like the Southern Gentleman, this isn't available in 6 packs. They may eventually bring their own growler to the Jackson market but it is not yet available and we can't wait! The beer cost for this selection is $17.99 and this gets you 5 pints. Once we fill it, you have 4 days to drink it before you should toss it. Being a pint of anything at the bar is at lease $5, you are getting a deal and no tip is required either!
The glass growler costs $5 to start. After that you just bring it in to exchange for the next beer fill. Stay tuned for further special Growler Fill beers!
